At just 28, Kim Hye Yoon has built a stellar career most actors only dream of. From her early days as a background character in iconic K-dramas like Goblin and The Legend of the Blue Sea, to stealing the spotlight in Sky Castle, Extraordinary You, and Snowdrop, her rise has been nothing short of impressive. Most recently, she soared to global stardom with the massive hit Lovely Runner, alongside Byeon Woo Seok.
While fans are excited about her return to the small screen in the upcoming fantasy rom-com Human From Today, where she stars opposite All of Us Are Dead actor Lomon, there’s more big news brewing. Kim Hye Yoon may be heading back to the silver screen — and this time, with a dark twist.
According to her agency, Artist Company, the actress is currently reviewing an offer to star in Salmokji, a horror thriller set around eerie, real-life events at a reservoir of the same name. If she accepts, it would mark her first film in three years since Ditto (2022).
The plot details are still under wraps, but Salmokji promises to dive deep into terrifying territory, blending psychological suspense with supernatural elements — a major departure from the roles we’re used to seeing her in.
Adding to the excitement, Kim Hye Yoon is celebrating a Baeksang Arts Awards 2025 nomination for Best Actress – Television thanks to her role as the charming Im Sol in Lovely Runner. Her co-star Byeon Woo Seok has also been nominated for Best Actor – Television, and the series itself scored a total of seven nominations, including Best Drama — all just in time for its first anniversary.
Whether it’s romance, comedy, or thriller, Kim Hye Yoon keeps proving there’s nothing she can’t do. Fans will definitely want to keep their eyes on Salmokji — this could be her darkest (and boldest) role yet.
