In the unforgiving chill of a Chicago winter, where temperatures fell to a relentless negative 10 degrees, a powerful story unfolded—one not just about fashion, but about courage, loyalty, and dreams that refuse to freeze. At the breathtaking Beau Chateau in Alsip, international supermodel Anita Lain Stigler returned to her roots to stand beside an extraordinary woman and dear friend, designer Sandy Moore.
Draped in Sandy Moore’s exquisitely detailed creation, Anita faced the cold with grace and purpose. This moment was never about comfort—it was about belief. Belief in a survivor. Belief in artistry. Belief that true beauty blooms even in the harshest seasons. As Anita beautifully stated, “Some years are for growing, but this year is for blooming.” Her words echoed through the frozen air, perfectly capturing the spirit of the day.

Behind the camera, Antonio King Housley pushed through the brutal weather, capturing every detail with precision and passion. His lens transformed icy breath and numbing winds into visual poetry, preserving a vision born from resilience and friendship. Each photograph stood as proof that small steps taken daily create powerful results over time.
The Designer Behind the Vision
Sandra “Sandy” Moore, the heart and hands behind Candy Kouture in Joliet, Illinois, is no stranger to transformation. Her journey began in her early teens as a model, but life soon called her toward love and family. After marrying her childhood sweetheart and moving to Maine, Sandy dedicated herself to raising four sons before eventually returning to Joliet in 1990.

In 2005, Sandy bravely opened her own retail store, stepping fully into her creative destiny. Soon after, she faced life’s greatest battles—a colon cancer diagnosis with limited survival expectations, followed by breast and stomach cancer. Through it all, sewing became her sanctuary and strength. Despite physical challenges and countless treatments, Sandy continued to design, creating garments that uplifted her spirit and restored her confidence.
Now more than two decades cancer-free, Sandy Moore channels her journey into empowering others. Through inclusive fashion shows and her work as a designer and sewing teacher at Candy Kouture, she celebrates individuality, confidence, and inner beauty. Her legacy is woven not just in fabric, but in hope.

This Chicago shoot was not simply a fashion moment—it was a declaration. A declaration that survival can become art, that friendship can defy the cold, and that when passion meets perseverance, dreams don’t just survive—they bloom.
